Opening of Polenovo Children’s Art Center (Strakhovo, Russia)

On September 26, 2014, the official opening of the Polenovo Children’s Art Center was celebrated in Strakhovo village (Tula region, Russia). The Art Center occupies the former Vassily Polenov school which was designed by the artist himself and build in 1911. Teaching continued here without interruption even during World War II. In 1989 the school was shut down and in the course of the last 20 years 2 big fires greatly damaged the building. In 2012 Polenovo Museum started the restoration work. And today we are happy to open the doors again. Now in the former Polenov school there will be placed the Children’s Art Center.
